Technical

Sound first.
Beautiful after.

General guidance only. Every project must be assessed for its own substrate, exposure and detailing, and the compliant waterproofing, falls and drainage are the responsibility of the project team.

D-01 Technical

The substrate decides the system. It must be sound, stable, clean, appropriately flat and free of contaminants. Existing coatings, tiles, plasterboard, concrete and timber-based sheets each need their own assessment. Moisture, cracking and movement are checked before a primer or finish is selected.

Microcement is not inherently waterproof by itself. It does not replace compliant waterproofing. In wet areas and pools, a suitable waterproofing system must be designed and installed by qualified people before the finish is applied, and the finish system must be compatible with it.

Buildings move. Structural joints, control joints and changes of plane need to be carried through the finish rather than bridged over. Plan joint locations early with your builder, and keep reinforcement and detailing aligned to them.

Floors in wet areas need correct falls to outlets, and drains need to be set at the right height for the full build-up. These are resolved on the drawings and in the substrate, not left to the finish to correct.

Foot traffic, water, UV, temperature, cleaning chemicals, pool water and heat all change what protection a surface needs. Describe your exposure in your enquiry so the protective finish can be matched to it.

Care depends on the protective finish used and how the surface is exposed. Ask us for care guidance specific to your system before choosing cleaning products, and avoid abrasive cleaning until you have it.

Manufacturer guidance and documents

Read the manufacturer’s product guidance below, alongside our Australian system and care guides. Manufacturer pages are not a substitute for a current Australian safety data sheet or project-specific approval.

For Australian TDS, SDS or certificates, request the document for your exact product, pack and intended use. Locally approved downloadable files and their revision dates have not yet been verified. Do not treat an overseas webpage as Australian compliance certification. Our care guide and warranty guidance are available without an enquiry.
